Wellness is more than mere physical health, exercise and nutrition. It is the modern holistic concept of health and fitness. “Wellness means a condition of being physically and mentally healthy and free from diseases.”
Wellness includes both external as well as internal components of a persan’s - social, mental, emotional and spiritual fitness. It 1s a state of optimal well-being that is oriented towards maximising an individual’s potential. It enables an individual to lead a quality life and contribute [i effectively to society. It is a dynamic process of change and Wellness growth.

Importance of Wellness
Wellness is inevitable to lead a balanced life. A person attains physical, mental, social and spiritual integrity because of wellness. The importance of wellness in life is as follows:
1. To live a stress-free life: Wellness is the capacity of a person to live a balanced life. Negative expressions like stress, anxiety, depression do not dominate if a person is physically and mentally healthy. A healthy person uses stress as a stimulant and uses it in a constructive manner. He manages stress, anxiety etc. in a skilful manner. Due to wellness a person relaxes his mind easily and leads an active life.
2. To be socially active: Wellness provides an opportunity to the person connect with society and the environment. He plays an active role in society and social work. Wellness encourages ethical behaviour of a person while, is very essential for having in a society.
3. To become a good citizen: Due to wellness a person proves to be a young citizen of his nation He knows how to balance his nights and duties and this way he is called a good citizen.
4. To improve health: The state of physical, mental and social wellness is called health. A person is physically, mentally and socially healthy only because of wellness.
5. For attaining mental and spiritual bliss: Wellness is the state of optimal well-being which makes a person aware of his physical, psychological, social and spiritual abilities. This results in wholesome development of personality and the person experiences mental and spiritual happiness.
6. For high-quality life: Wellness improves the quality of life. A fit and healthy person can enjoy life more by participating in sports, meeting people and being happy.

As discussed earlier, wellness is the sum total of positive lifestyle, behaviour and attitude. It includes factors like mental, emotional, moral and sociological aspects of individual behaviour along with physical fitness The main components of wellness are:
1. Physical well being: Physical well-being involves being Physically fit and active. It is the basic component of wellness as it is the foundation on which other forms of Moral Mental fitness are developed Physical well being well-beng well-being is the basic requirement to enjoy and succeed in life. Without it, an individual will not be able to perform the basic functions required to lead a quality life.
2. Mental well-being: Mental well-being means the ability to learn continuously and grow intellectually. It means that an individual should explore, question, seek knowledge, generate ideas and acquire new skills. It is imperative for personal development. Life experiences and education expand the mental horizons of a person.
3. Emotional stability: To lead a healthy and happy life, one must know how to control and manage emotions like fear, anger, frustration, joy, etc. A person must feel comfortable expressing his emotions and know how to express them in an appropriate manner. Emotional stability also involves the ability to manage stress and tension.
4. Social well-being: We live in a society along with people with different personalities. Thus, we must know how to interact effectively and form meaningful relationships. Social well-being involves displaying qualities of fair play, respect, friendship, mutual cooperation and honesty to become healthy members of society.
5. Moral well-being: Development of moral qualities helps us in choosing the right path in both personal and professional life. It requires us to be ethical, honest and fair in our conduct.
